DNPA Code of Ethics
1. Preamble
PhonePrice360 (https://phoneprice360.com) is a digital publisher that provides mobile phone prices, specifications, comparisons, launch coverage and buying guidance to readers in India and around the world.
Because our readers rely on us when making purchasing decisions, the accuracy and fairness of what we publish has a direct effect on them. This Code of Ethics sets out the editorial and ethical standards that govern everything we publish. It is based on the Code of Ethics of the Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA), which we voluntarily adopt, and it reflects the obligations that apply to digital publishers under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
We adopt this Code because we believe that reader trust cannot be claimed. It has to be earned, tested and maintained, one published page at a time.
2. Scope and Applicability
This Code applies to:
- All editorial content published on phoneprice360.com, including price listings, specification tables, comparison articles, buying guides, reviews, news items and features.
- All staff writers, editors, contributors, freelancers, interns and contractors who produce content for us.
- Sponsored, branded and partner content, to the extent described in Section 10.
- User-generated content, including comments and reader submissions, as described in Section 11.
Where this Code is stricter than the minimum required by law, we follow this Code. Where the law imposes a stricter requirement, we follow the law.
3. Core Principles
Six principles run through every section of this Code. They are not aspirational slogans. They are the standard against which our published work can be judged.
What we publish should be verifiable, sourced and correct at the time of publication.
Every brand and every reader gets the same standard of treatment, good news or bad.
We show our sources, disclose our commercial relationships and label what is sponsored.
No advertiser, brand or partner decides what we cover or how we rate it.
We minimise the personal data we publish and we protect the people we write about.
When we get something wrong, we correct it visibly and we say what changed.
4. Accuracy, Fairness and Transparency
4.1 Verification before publication
We verify prices, specifications, launch dates and availability against primary sources wherever possible. These include official manufacturer pages and press releases, official brand statements, regulatory filings, and listings from authorised retailers. Where only secondary sources are available, we say so.
4.2 Confirmed information versus leaks and rumours
Mobile phone coverage frequently involves leaked renders, rumoured specifications and expected prices. We cover these because readers find them useful, but we label them clearly. Rumours, leaks and unverified reports are never presented as confirmed fact, and they are never written in a way that a casual reader could mistake for an official announcement.
4.3 Prices, dates and volatility
Prices in the mobile market change often. To avoid misleading readers:
- We state the currency and the market a price applies to.
- We indicate when a price was last checked or verified.
- We distinguish between launch price, current street price and carrier-subsidised pricing.
- We update price-sensitive pages when we become aware of a significant change.
4.4 Headlines, thumbnails and summaries
Headlines, subheadings, social posts and thumbnails must accurately reflect the article. We do not use clickbait that the article does not support, and we do not exaggerate a rumour into a headline that reads like confirmed news.
4.5 Sourcing and attribution
We attribute facts to their sources and link to them where possible. We do not copy wholesale from other publications, and we do not present another outlet’s original reporting as our own.
4.6 Factual errors
When we discover an error, we correct it in line with our Correction Policy. Correction is not optional, and it is not something we do only when someone complains.
5. Independence and Impartiality
Editorial independence is the foundation of everything else in this Code. Our judgements about devices, prices and value for money are made by our editorial team alone.
- No payment for coverage. We do not accept money, goods or services in exchange for a review, a favourable rating, a place in a comparison table or inclusion in a buying guide.
- No advertiser influence. Advertisers and commercial partners have no input into editorial conclusions, ratings, rankings or the content of a review.
- No undisclosed gifts. Where a brand provides a review unit, loan device, sample or travel for an event, the item is returned or disclosed, and the arrangement is noted where it is material to the reader.
- Separation of news and opinion. Analysis, opinion and commentary are clearly identified as such and are not presented as straight reporting.
- Consistency across brands. We apply the same review criteria and the same level of scrutiny to every manufacturer, including those who advertise with us and those who do not.
- Disclosure of interests. Any contributor with a financial interest, employment relationship or personal connection to a product or brand they are covering must disclose it, and must not write about that subject.
6. Privacy and Personal Data
We respect the privacy of the people we write about and of our readers. Our handling of reader data is described in our Privacy Policy, which should be read alongside this Code.
- Minimisation. We publish personal information only where it is genuinely relevant to the story and where there is a legitimate public interest in doing so.
- Sensitive data. We do not publish personal contact details, home addresses, identity document numbers, financial details or medical information without a clear public interest justification.
- Children. We take particular care with content involving minors. We do not publish identifying details of children in circumstances that could expose them to harm, ridicule or exploitation.
- Consent. Where we interview or quote an individual, we obtain consent for the use of their words and their name, and we explain how the material will be used.
- Images and video. We respect a person’s reasonable expectation of privacy when capturing and publishing images in private settings.
- Security. Reader data is stored and processed with appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, consistent with applicable data protection law.
7. Corrections and Retractions
Accuracy is a continuing obligation, not a one-time check at publication. If information we have published turns out to be wrong, we correct it promptly and visibly.
- We investigate every credible report of an error, including reports from readers, brands and third parties.
- Minor errors such as spelling, grammar and broken links are fixed without a public note.
- Substantive errors, such as a wrong price or specification, are corrected with a dated correction note on the affected page.
- Serious errors that materially mislead readers are corrected with a prominent editor’s note explaining what was wrong and what is now correct.
- Where an article cannot be salvaged by correction, we may retract it. A retraction is published openly and is never silent.
The full process, including how to submit a correction request, is set out in our Correction Policy.

9. Sensitive and Restricted Content
We do not publish content that is knowingly false, that incites hatred or violence, or that is otherwise unlawful. Specifically, we do not publish content that:
- Belongs to another person and to which the publisher has no right.
- Is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another’s privacy, or harmful to children.
- Is insulting or harassing on the basis of religion, race, caste, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or place of birth.
- Encourages money laundering, gambling, or otherwise unlawful activity.
- Threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states, or public order.
- Incites the commission of a cognisable offence, or prevents investigation of an offence.
- Infringes any patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret or other proprietary right.
- Impersonates another person.
- Contains software viruses or code designed to disrupt or damage systems.
- Spreads demonstrably false information that could cause public harm.
9.1 Additional care in sensitive reporting
Certain subjects require more than ordinary care. In these areas we apply the following standards:
- Suicide and self-harm. We avoid graphic detail, do not describe methods, and do not present suicide as a solution to any problem. Where relevant, we include information about support services.
- Sexual violence. We do not identify victims or survivors of sexual violence without informed consent, and we avoid details that serve no public interest.
- Children. We do not publish material that could identify or endanger a child in a harmful context.
- Communal and religious matters. We avoid language that inflames tension, and we do not attribute the actions of individuals to an entire community.
- Health and medical claims. We do not present unverified health claims as established fact, and we do not offer content that could substitute for professional medical advice.
- Financial and consumer claims. Where we discuss pricing, offers, warranties or consumer rights, we aim to state facts accurately and avoid misleading comparisons.
10. Advertising and Sponsored Content
Advertising funds our work. It does not shape it. The boundary between advertising and editorial content is kept clear and visible.
- Clear labelling. All sponsored, branded, promoted and partner content is labelled as such, prominently and before the reader encounters the content, using terms such as “Sponsored”, “Ad”, “Paid Partnership” or “Promoted”.
- No disguised advertising. We do not present paid content as independent editorial work.
- No paid reviews. Ratings, verdicts and recommendations are never sold.
- Affiliate links. Where an article contains affiliate links, we disclose this clearly. Affiliate arrangements do not influence our editorial conclusions.
- Editorial control. Advertisers may not approve, amend or veto editorial content. They may review sponsored content for factual accuracy about their own product.
- Advertising standards. We do not accept advertising that is unlawful, deceptive, discriminatory, or that promotes prohibited goods or services.
11. User-Generated Content
Where we allow comments, reviews or reader submissions, the following applies:
- Contributors of user-generated content are responsible for what they post and must not post unlawful content.
- We may moderate, restrict or remove user-generated content that breaches this Code or applicable law.
- We act on valid orders from a court or a competent government authority to remove or disable access to unlawful content within 36 hours of receipt of the order.
- We act on credible reports of unlawful user-generated content, and may remove or disable access to it.
- We maintain records of user complaints and the action taken, as required by applicable law.
To report problematic user-generated content, email amanrauniyar@phoneprice360.com.
12. Copyright and Attribution
- We do not plagiarise. Quoting, referencing and building on the work of others is normal practice, but it is always attributed.
- We use images, video and other media that we own, that are licensed to us, or that are available under a licence permitting our use. Where required, we credit the creator and the licence.
- We respond promptly to valid copyright complaints. If you believe your copyright has been infringed by content on our site, email amanrauniyar@phoneprice360.com with the page URL, a description of the work, and evidence of your rights.
- Where a copyright claim is upheld, we remove or replace the material and, where appropriate, note the change on the page.
13. AI and Automated Tools
We may use technology, including AI-assisted tools, for tasks such as transcription, research assistance, data formatting, translation drafts and image processing. The following rules apply:
- Human responsibility. Every article published under our name is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Responsibility for accuracy rests with the editor, not the tool.
- No unverified automation. We do not publish AI-generated content as fact without human verification against reliable sources.
- Transparency. Where the use of AI is material to how a piece of content was produced, we disclose it.
- No fabricated content. We do not publish invented quotes, fabricated sources, synthetic images presented as real, or AI-generated content designed to mislead readers.
14. Takedown and Removal Requests
We do not remove accurate information simply because someone would prefer it were not published. Removing accurate reporting to avoid scrutiny would defeat the purpose of this Code.
Where a removal request is received, we will:
- Review the request and the content it concerns.
- Assess whether the content is accurate, lawful and in the public interest.
- Correct any genuine inaccuracy rather than deleting the page, wherever correction is possible.
- Remove or disable access to content where required by a valid court order or a lawful government direction, or where the content breaches this Code or applicable law.
- Inform the requester of the outcome and the reasons for the decision.
15. Accountability and Review
- Editorial responsibility. Final responsibility for everything published on PhonePrice360 rests with the editor.
- Training and awareness. Contributors are expected to be familiar with this Code and with our Correction Policy and Privacy Policy.
- Records. We keep records of corrections, grievances received, and the action taken on each.
- Periodic review. This Code is reviewed at least once a year, and sooner if there is a significant change in law, technology or industry practice.
- Breaches. A serious or repeated breach of this Code by a contributor may result in the removal of their published work and the ending of their engagement with us.
16. Legal Compliance
This Code is applied alongside, and does not replace, our obligations under applicable law, including:
- The Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
- The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
- The Copyright Act, 1957.
- The Consumer Protection Act, 2019, including provisions relating to misleading advertisements.
- Other applicable Indian laws relating to defamation, privacy, obscenity and public order.
Where there is a conflict between this Code and applicable law, the law prevails. Nothing in this Code should be read as legal advice.
